Adding Bicarb to the Pool:
The preferred method would be to add directly to the pool - allowing time for dispersion - minimum of 15 minutes before people are in the pool.
Alternative methods would be to add bicarb through the filter slurry tank for the small pool. The large pool must be added during non-swim times as it does not have a slurry tank.
Use the table below to determine how much bicarb to add in order to raise the alkalinity.
Small Pool - 10k Gallons
To Increase Alkalinity: Add: 10ppm…………….….....1.4 lbs 20ppm…………….….....2.8 lbs 30ppm…………….….....4.2 lbs 40ppm…………….….....5.6 lbs 50ppm…………….….....7 lbs |
Large Pool - 50k Gallons
To Increase Alkalinity: Add: 10ppm…………….….....7 lbs 20ppm…………….….....14 lbs 30ppm…………….….....21 lbs 40ppm…………….….....28 lbs 50ppm…………….….....35 lbs |
Acceptable pH: 7.2 - 7.8
County Range: 7.4 - 7.6
