We are a children's learn-to-swim school and are not equipped or trained to instruct teenagers or young adults. Our pool is also a teaching pool at 4 feet deep... this can make it difficult for a teen or older to learn as they can touch the bottom. We offer lessons to children from 2 months old until they reach 12 years old.
HOWEVER... exceptions can be made. SS and GM must be part of the decision.
We do not “kick out” swimmers at 12 y/o. We can allow kids 12 years or older to continue swimming with the understanding that it should not impede the experience of other swimmers and staff. When a swimmer reaches 12, we discuss a plan with the parents and our team at that location. Conversation with the parents is crucial. If we feel the swimmer should move on, a professional discussion demonstrating our Core Values shall happen with the parents.
If exceptions are made, the Site must explain to parents that any transfer and makeup cannot be done through the portal or customer support and that it needs to be discussed and scheduled with staff at the location to allow the Site to find the best fit. The site will add notes regarding exceptions and clear expectations to the family’s account.
At 13+ years old, we should be more encouraging for the swimmer to move on, and exceptions should be extremely unique.
iClassPro settings are set to a maximum of 11.11 years old, and therefore, online registration will only allow swimmers 11 years old or younger to enroll. Any registration, transfers etc for a swimmer 12+, must be handled by HFSS staff at the swim location.
Waitlist Guidelines
- Once a swimmer turns 12 years old, if they are (1) not currently enrolled and (2) do not have exception notes to be enrolled, we will send them an age-out email. See projects for the process.
- If the swimmer is currently enrolled and turning 12, it is the location's responsibility to discuss the above and note the swimmer's future with HFSS. These waitlists will be processed as requested, assuming the Site has added waitlist notes to approve enrollment as an exception.
