Clearing the Browser History

Overview

Whenever you visit a webpage online, your browser "caches" or stores a small file with information about the page so that it can be generated more quickly in the future. That also means, that when websites make changes, your browser can have difficulty determining what should be showing on the page. By clearing your cache and/or browsing history, you remove the small file from the browser's memory and force the page to load from scratch. It may take a few more seconds to load the first time, but the information the browser is using to create the page will be more accurate.

As a web based software, this process will also help ensure you are seeing the latest updates in iClassPro. This brief tutorial will show you how to clear the history in your browser. For the best performance, we recommend using Mozilla Firefox with iClassPro.

Clearing History in Chrome

  1. In the upper right corner of Google Chrome, click on the Menu button (either three lines or three dots, depending on your version).
  2. Hover over History.
  3. On the menu that pops out, click on History.
  4. Click the Clear Browsing Data button.
  5. In the Clear Browsing Data window, choose the Beginning of Time.
  6. While we recommend checking the first four options, the most important is Cached Images and Files. If you do not want to clear your Browsing History, Download History, or Cookies, that is up to you.
  7. NOTE: This removes any information your browser has stored to help load websites more quickly - so the next time it loads, it uses all fresh and accurate data.
  8. Click Clear Browsing Data.
  9. Once the browser finishes clearing the information, Refresh the page.

GOOGLE CHROME SHORTCUT: While in your browser, on your keyboard, hold down CTRL + SHIFT + Delete to open up the Clear Browsing Data window directly and skip straight to steps 4-7 above.

Clearing History in Firefox

  2. Then choose History.
  3. At the top of this menu, choose Clear Recent History.

  5. While we recommend checking the first four options, the most important is Cache. If you do not want to clear your Browsing & Download History, Form & Search History or Cookies, that is up to you.
  6. NOTE: Clearing cache removes certain files your browser has stored to help load websites more quickly - so the next time it loads, it uses all fresh and accurate data.
  7. Click Clear Now.
  8. Once the browser finishes clearing the information, Refresh the page

  2. If you haven’t done so already, you will need to choose to show the optional Develop menu. To do this, choose Preferences > Advanced > “Show Develop menu in menu bar”, then close out of Preferences.
  3. In any Safari browser window, click on the Develop menu and choose “Empty Caches.”
  4. This will begin the process of emptying your cache files. Please note that there will be no confirmation window when the process has completed.

Clearing History in Internet Explorer 11

Please note: If you are using Internet Explorer 11 and are experiencing slowness, errors, or are needing to clear your cache regularly, we recommend using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome with iClassPro. These two browsers will give you increased performance and efficiency when using iClassPro.

  1. In the upper right corner of Internet Explorer, click on the Safety button (or Click the Tools menu).
  2. Choose Delete Browsing History.
  3. In the Delete Browsing History window, we recommend selecting Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and Website Data, and History. NOTE: The Temporary Internet Files option is most important. This removes cached items that your browser has stored to help load websites more quickly - after clearing this information, the next time the page loads, it will be forced to use all fresh and accurate data from the servers.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Once the browser finishes clearing the information, Refresh the page.
