Adding Liquid Chlorine to the Pool:
Option 1 The preferred method would be to add chlorine through the slurry tank.
- Swimmers may be in the pool when this is being done.
- Add a maximum of 1 gallon of chlorine at a time & fill the rest of the slurry tank with water before sending it into the pool via the ‘Slurry Suction Line’
- Add based on the Chlorine Table below.
Option 2 Add chlorine directly into the surge tank.
- Swimmers may be in the pool when this is being done.
Option 3 Add chlorine directly to the pool and allow time for dispersion.
- It will be a minimum of 30 minutes before swimmers can return to the pool.
Use the table below to determine how much liquid chlorine to add in order to raise the chlorine level by 1ppm, 2ppm, or 3ppm.
Small Pool - 15k Gallons
To Raise: Add: 1ppm……........20oz (2½ cups) 2ppm………....40oz (⅓ gallon) 3ppm…...…....60oz (⅔ gallon)
ppm = parts per million |
Large Pool - 40k Gallons
To Raise: Add: 1ppm……........52oz (6 cups) 2ppm…….......104oz (¾ gallon) 3ppm………....156oz (1¼ gallon) ppm = parts per million |
Measurement Conversions:
- 1 cup = 8 fluid oz.
- 1 gallon = 128 fluid oz. = 16 cups
