Short Answer

Enrollment works like all other levels. See How do HFSS lessons work?

Little Snapper 1 & 2 level are based of the swimmer's age. Little Snapper Advance is all about attitude and is instructor recommended.

The More You Know

We have three levels of Little Snapper classes that are age based; they all focus on teaching children under the age of 3 to become independent in the water. The classes include an introduction to water safety and primary water skills in a fun, child-centered environment, including: breath control, submersions, backfloats, rollover breathing and water play.

LS1: This age group is capable of back-floating and rolling over but we teach comfort underwater first. We expect parents to be more hands on with this age group. Laying a strong foundation of trust, confidence and comfort underwater pays off when it is time to move on to more advanced skills as they become independent in the water.

LS2: Assertiveness and independence increases at this age. The child needs to feel important and competent as they become easily frustrated. They are able to learn through experimentation and exploration. They are on their way to becoming independent swimmers.

LSA: This level is for any student with an ATTITUDE who enters the pool on their own without hesitation and can do multiple submersions for 3 to 5 seconds. LSA swimmers usually come from LS2 classes based on a teacher recommendation. If they come from another program - and they insist, let them try it!

Our snapper classes are a fun way for both you and your swimmer to bond and learn comfort and safety techniques in the water. There are up to 6 kiddos and their parents in the water with an instructor leading you through different activities. Our classes focus on all basic swim skills such as body positions, comfort, balance, buoyancy, unders, swimming to the wall, backfloats and rolling over for a breath. We follow the same basic structure during each lesson in order to ensure that your child is comfortable, knows what's coming next, and can really focus on mastering the skills presented. We make it fun by incorporating different games and songs, playing with toys, and you'll also get to meet some other parents with kids the same age as yours.

Little Snappers are a parent participation class. When you get in the water with your child the teacher will give you skills to work on base on you and your swimmers comfort. As you and your swimmer become more comfortable you can increase the difficulty of the skill or if you are having a rough day you can pull back. So each class is catered to each swimmers ability. Some of the skills we work on is comfort under the water and comfort on the back... this will eventually turn in to the safety skill of rolling over when they need a breath.

All our swimmers under 3 or unpotty trained are required to wear a snug, washable, reusable swim diaper.
