About Foundation for Blind Children

  • The Foundation for Blind Children serves the blind and visually impaired of all ages, from birth to currently 102 years old. As the only agency of its kind in Arizona, the Foundation for Blind Children is an essential resource to families and children with blindness or low vision.
  • HFSS has graciously offered exclusive Little Snapper classes for Foundation for Blind Children (FBC).
  • Class availability varies by location and is determined by the FBC Coordinator; FBC will be covering the cost for each child enrolled.

Enrollment Process

  1. FBC staff coordinates with FBC families who will be attending class & instructs the parent to create a HFSS account to complete waivers.
  2. FBC staff will contact the Grants Coordinator to confirm that each new student has completed the enrollment waivers.
  3. The Grant Coordinator will create an enrollment for each swimmer. Families will receive a special email for their FBC swim program. See the email log to view.

Drop Process

  1. We do not require FBC swimmers to give us a two-lesson drop notice. They can drop through their app or with a staff member.
  2. HFSS asks FBC Families to alert their FBC Early Intervention Vision Specialist of the cancellation. This expectation is included in their drop email.
  3. The Notice of Absences Procedure is the same for FBC swimmers with the added step to inform FBC. Once a Site drops a swimmer, the Site will email the FBC Early Intervention Specialists and Bernice with the swimmer we have dropped and the reason for it.
    • Subject: Location - Swimmer - Reason
    • Message: We have dropped xx at the xx location for x unexcused absences.

The Hubbard Way - FAQs

How are funds request from FBC?

FBC has an account and a card on file; KDLC handles payments with FBC. Individual families have no financial responsibility to HFSS.

Can FBC book makeups?

We are unable to offer MUs to the FBC students due to our having special accommodations in place and our inability to replicate those in other lessons.

What if an FBC swimmer ask to join lessons?

If the swimmer is under 3 years old, ask them to contact their your FBC Early Intervention Vision Specialist for possible options. If the swimmer is 3+ years old, have them touch base with their Site Supervisor for the best options to move forward with HFSS (ex: group or Special Needs).

Please note: we do not want to transfer FBC swimmers into a new class because they will not get the important HFSS information regarding their enrollment. Please be sure these are new enrollments vs transfers.
